Eliot Rattle's drawings inhabit a space where they exert gravity on one another; where they describe the unsteady link between the seen and the unseen. In these pieces, the vectors of line and form beg for a relationship, while the faces themselves ask for contemplation of purpose, motive, and identity. The tactile work of drawing engages him personally with the expressions of the characters, and the seemingly spare white void they engage with becomes an activated space onto which the audience can project their own thoughts, connections, and narratives.
